KokomoScanner LLC is a local social media project managed and moderated by volunteers. This page is not affiliated with any news organization, police department, fire department, or other public safety agency. It is also not a complaint page.
This project exists simply because we enjoy listening to the scanner and sharing what we hear with the community. We do not receive payment or financial benefit from doing this. All operating costs are covered personally.
Kokomo Scanner is pro–public safety. We support the men and women who serve our community every day. Disrespectful comments toward public safety personnel or racist remarks will not be tolerated. If you don’t enjoy the concept of the page or the discussions taking place, we respectfully ask that you move along.
Our moderators all have full-time jobs and other responsibilities. Posts are made when someone on the team happens to be listening to the scanner, so the page is not monitored 24/7.
The page originally started as a way for local scanner listeners to discuss what they were hearing. Over time, people began messaging to ask why police or fire units were responding to certain areas. Posting the initial dispatch information made it easier for everyone to stay informed at the same time.
What you see posted here is typically the dispatch information exactly as it was broadcast. We try not to speculate or add details that haven’t been confirmed. Calls are dispatched based on the information provided by the caller, and situations often turn out to be very different once responders arrive.
Sometimes we hear the outcome of a call, and sometimes we don’t. If you have reliable information that adds helpful context to a post, you are welcome to share it in the comments while following our posting guidelines.
It’s also important to remember that scanner traffic can make the community sound busier than it actually is. Many calls turn out to be minor situations or misunderstandings.
The contents of this page and scanner feed are not associated with the agencies being broadcast. Scanner audio and posts are shared for informational and entertainment purposes only. Misuse of scanner information could lead to criminal charges.
